Homeless Prevention

Through our Homelessness Prevention Program, we will work closely with eligible residents who are at serious risk of homelessness and provide housing stability case management with access to wraparound services, housing search assistance, and rental and utility financial assistance.

Eligibility Criteria for Financial Assistance

Please answer the following questions to help you determine if you are eligible to be considered for financial assistance for rent or utility payments.

  • QUESTION 1

If you are seeking help with rent, have you received an official Dispossessory Warrant from the DeKalb County Courthouse or written late notice from your landlord?

  • QUESTION 2

If you are seeking help with utilities, have you received a disconnection notice from the utility company?

  • QUESTION 3

Is your need for assistance the result of a temporary loss of income and/or temporary increase in expenses?

  • QUESTION 4

Will you have enough verifiable income coming into your household to meet all your expenses if we assist you? (Please note that income must be verified in writing through pay stubs, letters of employment, benefit letters, etc. in order for New Life Community Ministries to provide financial assistance.)

  • QUESTION 5

Do you and/or members of your household pay 100% of your rental cost without any assistance from a subsidy program such as Section 8?

  • QUESTION 6

If your application is accepted, are you (and all family members who contribute to the household financially) willing to commit to completing Financial Literacy Training. (Training is onsite at the New Life facility, it will take approximately five hours to complete.)
