New Life Community Center wants to enlist your expertise and time in spending a few hours each week (or month) helping folks in your community. If you would like to become a volunteer, please fill out our form above and bring it in or fax it to us at 404-381-0500. We provide volunteer opportunities in the following areas:

Tutoring (back to top)
  • Teach children consistent study habits.
  • Build good citizenship through role modeling and mentoring.
  • Reading comprehension activities.
  • Math concepts and problem solving activities.
  • Practicing clear, concise, effective speech.
  • Writing logical, complete sentences and paragraphs.
Mentoring (back to top)
  • Provide positive male role modes for young men.
  • Focus on the well-being of the whole child, equipping them to become life-long learners and great citizens.
  • Coordinate field trips.
  • Conduct group discussions or rap sessions.
  • Provide job shadowing for mentee.
  • Review school progress report and discuss with mentee.
  • Provide academic assistance.
Administrative Duties (back to top)
  • Filing
  • Copying, collating and stapling of materials
  • Distribute literature and materials
  • Assist with mailings
  • Answering phones and providing information to callers
  • Computer knowledge and skill in word processing and data entry
  • Record keeping
Chaperones for Youth Enrichment Program (back to top)
  • Assist teachers with field trips to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
  • Supervise students during special events and recreational or sporting activities.
  • Take roll and verify student attendance.
  • Care for children during teachersÕ staff meetings.
Programming Duties (back to top)
  • Assisting teachers with supervision of children in After School Program and Summer Camp.
  • Providing assistance with meal preparation for children in Summer Camp program.
  • Assisting with cleaning, set up and breaking down of rooms in preparation for classes at the community center.
  • Assist teachers while on field trips to ensure safety of children.
Supporters for Outreach & Social Service Programs (back to top)
  • Assist in Clothing Closet with receiving and sorting donated clothing.
  • Assisting with preparing and serving food to homeless shelter clients.
  • Provide haircuts.
  • Supervise clients while services are being provided.
  • Provide life skills training to clients.
  • Take roll and maintain paperwork on clients.
Substitute Teachers (back to top)
  • To fill in for teachers in their absence.
  • Nurture and teach children 5 to 14 years old.
  • Help students with homework and engage them in extra curricula activities.
  • Work with students in a group setting as well as individually.
  • Maintain classroom discipline.

Special Events Assistance (back to top)

  • Event planning and coordination.
  • Greeters and guest registration at events.
  • Set up event tables, chairs and equipment.
  • Food and refreshment servers at event.
  • Event clean up.
Qualifications Sought
  • Must pass background check.
  • Friendly, personable, professional and mature.
  • Good phone skills.
  • Dependable and cooperative.
  • Good basic computer skills.
  • Willingness to work with children.
